A Thanksgiving Psalm
Our family has memorized a Bible verse to say before each meal of the day. It’s a simple way to get our kids ready and focused for prayer and the Bible verse also guides us as we pray and give thanks to the Lord.
This year we are memorizing a special Thanksgiving Bible verse (well, verses) to say before our Thanksgiving feast! We are taking the month of November to practice and learn Psalm 100.
A few tips:
There are four paragraphs to the Psalm. Take one paragraph at a time.
Repeat each paragraph several times and have your kids repeat each line back to you.
Use fun voices to repeat the verses. (Example: Let’s say it like we are mice! Let’s say it like we are underwater! Let’s say it like we are really happy!)
Use hand motions to help remember the words. (Example: For the word “know” point index finger to head.)
Repetition is key! Keep repeating and you can even make up a song or beat while you recite it.

You can also print this out and have it at the thanksgiving table for friends and family to read if they have not memorized it. That way everyone can participate!
